Louisiana snow days....

We have now had three days off school here in Baton Rouge. Interstate 10 closed from Tuesday evening to Thursday morning. We didn't see much snow but we saw a good bit of sleet and freezing rain Tuesday afternoon and evening. It didn't get warm enough Wednesday to melt everything away so that's why we had all three days off. It has been nice and relaxing but we will have to make up all three of these days.

Baton Rouge looked like a ghost town with the interstates closed....

This is the bridge to get onto I-110 around 7 pm Tuesday night

Walking the icy neighborhood streets

I-110 southbound in downtown Baton Rouge

I-110 northbound by the State Capitol

Snowpocalypse party!! Playing celebrities

That corner looks pretty slippery!

This ice patch was pretty solid in our apartment complex

So we went to Capitol Grocery and I watched Josh play Clash of Clans.....haha.

Sleigh Ride in Maine!

So it's tough to keep up a blog while working full-time! I'm hoping to get on a more steady pace in the future and since we have a snow/ice/cold day off from school today in Louisiana. I thought I would share pictures from our magical sleigh ride where we did see snow and ice over Christmas break.

Josh's mom found a place in Fairfield, ME that offers horse drawn sleigh rides: Maine Horse Drawn Services. It was only around a 10 minute drive from Josh's house and when we got there, the views were unbelievable!! This is the driveway and the beginning of our sleigh ride.

And here is the two horse open sleigh that took us through the woods, beside a bog and across fields all covered in snow.

The owner had two chows that were so adorable and friendly and fit right into the winter sleigh ride experience.

Here's a shot of Matt bonding with the dogs.

The dogs were so cute and fluffy that they almost didn't seem real!!

While we were waiting to go on the sleigh ride, I enjoyed walking around and taking pictures. I love the colors in this one! The snow shoes, the old barn, the sun.....everything just comes together so well!

We really had to bundle up because the temperatures were in the single digits and this was at the warmest point of the day!

Off we go!! This was my view...amazing!!!

I love that we were able to get a family shot! We missed Sam though because he had to work.

Everything was so picturesque and beautiful. These shots only capture a small part of the beauty.

The trees that were bent over due to the weigh of the snow and ice were so pretty. The ice made everything sparkle!

The dog loved the ride just as much as we did! He stayed like this the entire 45 minute ride!

The last picture is a panoramic shot of the sleigh, our sleigh driver and the bog past the trees in the distance.

After this shot, my phone decided it was too cold to operate and shut down. This was such a fun experience and a great way to see the winter wonderland of Maine!!

Christmas in Maine

Our Christmas in Maine was much colder but filled with fun and family just like Georgia!! This winter trip was definitely the prettiest trip I've had out of the four Christmases I've traveled up there. Usually it's cold and there's some snow but an ice storm came through a few days before we came up and the temperatures never rose above freezing so ice covered all of the trees and bushes. Everything sparkled when the sun shined!! It was like a magical winter wonderland!! Here's pictures of our time with family and the beautiful landscape!!

Fun times in the ATL airport on the way to Maine!!

I love taking pictures of cities from the plane!

There was the group of about 15 turkeys that would walk around Josh's backyard. They got really close to the house at times!

I love this picture of the cats watching this chipmunk peek his head in and out from his house. Can you spot the chipmunk?

This is the beautiful ice I was talking about!

Target shooting

So cold!!

Matt was really focused

Quality

I tried too!

Great panoramic shot of me shooting courtesy of Josh

The Saunders family

Plus me!

Brothers

I love the different shades of gray in this picture- looks so wintery

Matt needed a few awesome shots in his Chubbies that we gave him for Christmas

We went bowling for Sam's birthday while we were there

Me with the guys- I'm wearing my Falcons jersey that Josh got me for Christmas!

We spent a ton of time hanging out inside once the temperatures dropped below zero....and stayed there for a few days.

We played Marine Corps monopoly....

I braved the cold for the sake of beautiful pictures....

Love the colors!

This is Josh's road

On the way to Cabela's....I loved this break in the clouds!

We were super excited to find exploding targets to shoot at but they didn't have them in stores...

This was our blood, sweat and tears for about two full days. The puzzle pieces were these crazy intricate curves that may it so hard to complete but we finished!!!

One of the best parts about our Maine Christmas was our sleigh ride! I took so many pictures that I will write an entire post just about it so look forward to that soon!!!
