Hiking with Huey

These past four weeks have been wonderful! We are getting into a routine here in Denver. Huey joined our family, we've explored Denver more and we've went hiking twice with Huey. Both Josh and I started training for our schools three weeks ago so we are working but things aren't in full swing yet since kids aren't at school for another week or two.

A few weeks ago, Josh and I both experienced our first MLS game when we went to see the Colorado Rapids! They played Chivas USA and won 3-0! It was fun to see the atmosphere. There were some pretty dedicated fans at the game!! We definitely plan to attend more games in the future.

It was drizzling rain for a while- not enough to leave or even get an umbrella out but then we saw this beautiful double rainbow!! The first one was so bright on the bottom right that we could see each color band very distinctly! It was awesome!

So I'm pretty obsessed with taking pictures and videos of Huey. I can't even imagine what I'll be like when I have a kid. He is just so freaking adorable. Once he came out of his shell, we found out that he likes to chew....well annihilate toys. As you can see in the picture below, he chewed the covering off the tennis ball and chewed those rings to shreds.

This bumblebee never even saw it coming....

Since Huey seemed to have a good bit of energy, we thought we would take him hiking! He loves it. Two weekends ago we took him to Mount Falcon Park. It's an easy hike with little elevation change because you pretty much drive up the mountain.

There are ruins on top of Mount Falcon from where an old millionaire lived in the early 1900s. The house was struck by lightning and burned down by 1918 and  this is what's left.

Here's an awesome view of Red Rocks amphitheater between the two closest trees.

All of that hiking wore Huey out.....

Last weekend, we took Huey to the Flatirons in Boulder, Colorado. This was a tougher hike with rock paths and very little flat surfaces. Huey did very well though! As we were crossing a huge rock pile, he even stopped and waited for me to catch up to him and Josh.

I know the picture below is bright but I had to take a selfie with my sweetie!

Huey doesn't quite get the selfie concept yet....it's on my list of tricks to teach him though.

This day was gorgeous so we could see for miles.

Now we start having visitors come out!! My parents are coming next weekend and Josh's parents and brother will be out here less than two weeks after that! We also officially start the school year with students soon so things are going to get busy for the Saunders!!
