In 2014 my word was thankful. I decided to write down one thing every day that I was thankful for. I tried to be very specific so that I could notice the little things that made my day better. Some days I was specific, other days it was vague. Sometimes I would forget to write a word and I'd have to remind myself of what happened that day and one thing that made the day better for me.
Overall, I loved doing it and I recommend it to anyone who would like to try it! Within a few months, I would notice little things and just quickly say a thank you to God for them. For example, March 9th my thing was "amazing aroma of cherry blossom trees on 9th street." and March 11th- "a full dishwasher because it means we are eating in more."
This focus for 2014 didn't completely change my life but it helped me notice the little things in life a little better. I kept a note in my phone because I always kept that close to me and it was easy to access. When I wasn't in the best mood, it was always fun to go back and read older entries to remind myself of all of the good things around me.
Here are some screenshots of my thankful list from this year.
My word for 2015 is going to be...fit. I plan to continue to write something down each day to keep myself accountable and please feel free to check in with me to see how it's going! As part of this focus, I plan to hike my first 14'er this summer in Colorado and I will run either a half marathon or marathon with Jess Surface in September!!
What's your focus going to be for 2015?
